Internet Safety

Blogging:

1  what was really interesting to me from the readings was how quicly dangers are changing.  Every year new trends are coming and going and it is changing the risks as quickly as we can get ahead.

2  There are a lot of things i have often heard about internet safety that i haven't put much thought into. It is so imprtant to put protectors on your computer and monitor what your children are doing online. Then talk to them  and have an open relationship about what your children are doing.

3  I think in anything, by example is the best. Talk to them about programs that we uase on our computers and safetu that we use in our home.try to get them involved in the community about protecting ourselves.

4  again, I say cyberbullying is about relationships. Talk to my kids so that they know they can come to me, as well as know to avoid problem peers.

5  there are a lot of websites that you can find on google about internet safety.  Many school districts also offer on their website links to internet safety.  judge memorial has a link available to all it's students and a course that teachers are required to take.

6  as a teacher, definitely cyberbullying and your students getting into chat rooms with peopl e they should not be talking with.

7  know what websites to send students to be specific with where they must go, go there first myself look at relating links

Doing

I spoke with my sister, who is 30 years old and a mother of 3.  I was pleasantly surprised at all that she knew about internet safety and safety against pornography on the internet.she well knew what her kids needed and I would like to implement some of her strategies in my own home some day.

I was able to talk to her a lot about cyber bullying, which she has not had any encounters with because of the ages of her children, but how to monitor and prevent it.

i think this was a very valuable experience for both of us. It became a conversation that rolled over to my entire family where we were able to talk about issues.  i have one sister who is a teacher in Alpine school districet and she was able to share her experiences and help me to know what I  have to look forward to as a teacher.

So this is a video that I absolutely love, It took a timeless movie and added to it a song that everyone loves today. This is exactly what I look for as a teacher to get my students creative juices flowing. I consider this a multimedia video because they took one song put it to another video and played with the timing of the video. This video unfortunately did nothing right in the way of copyright though. No one is credited. No information is given on the original artists and musicians. I think it would be beneficial when using this to make sure that, Kenny Ortega got credit for his Choreography in Newsies, and LMFAO gets credit for their music.

This video shares a similar purpose as the last they both involve dance in new settings taking history and bringing it to today's world. I love all the elements and creativity added to this video and would really love to own this film series. THis trailer is a great example of how material should be credited to those who deserve it. It gives credit to the dancers of the NYC Ballet, Jerome Roberts as the choreographer, the film directors. It is all documented clearly that you know exactly who to go to and where to find each part.

Story Board

I've decided to do my multimedia project to inspire my dance students to not be limited in their dance by the settings of a stage. As we have seen, especially through musicals, through the world around us, dance can happen anywhere and really interact with our environment. Technology has made it possible to bring the world with us and us to the world. I want my dancers to be able to bring the world to their viewers.

So my movie will be about dancing outside of a stage.

This will teach my high school students to look for possibilities in choreography and a whole new way to adapt the movement to the environment, or how they will want to eventually adapt the stage to their choreography. with this video they will show the magic of dance in an place through dance and film.

My story board has been attached to my website under the assignment page

Music Editing

I worked with the program Goldwave and I have to say it was a really great experience. Here are some of the final projects I was able to create:

The songs:
The dog days are over and feel good time had minor editing. With these two songs I had to listen to the music and find a good spot to cut them to make them under two and a half minutes. This was easier thanks to the Beatles and that music is very repetitive now. But i never realized how much time goes into making sure there is not one extra beat. I will be sing these in actual dance classes I teach.... so it really already is proving useful.

Small I decided to have more fun with. I used tools to adjust the level of the sound, and even add some sounds in there, if you listen closely you will hear the Nokia ring tone in there. It took me a long time, but it was a lot of fun.

Walking on Air has again minor editing. This is the full song in it's entirety, I have just played with the beats, the timing, and the noise levels.

The very hardest part of this assignment was getting them on here. I didn't realize that blogger does not support audio files, then neither does youtube, and neither does any program that I could find. Som after struggling for hours, I did the easiest thing I could think of so here they are recorded on my camera and posted to you youtube.

One reason I chose this program and this project is that this is a free program that still has a lot of different things thsat you can do to the music.  Free programs are very beneficial when working with a small budget as you have with many dance programs and arts programs in schools. I also have a unit plan I created for my practicum class for either a dance 3 class or a Dance Company that involves the students doing their own choreography project.  In this project I would like the students to be able to cut the music on their own, so that they may "own" their choreography.  I would take the students to the lab one of the first days of the class and give them the opportunity to play with different tracks of music and the capabilities that they have with creating music.  This would be great if I had access to a computer lab. I think when I do get a job with a school I will make sure I look into what computer programs they have available and take the knowledge that I have learned to learn a new technology and pass that on to my students.

Dance Concert Poster

This was a lot of fun to do, There really are billions of possibilities on what to do in photo editing, I wanted to keep the final project simple although I was playing for weeks.

A special thanks to my great model, my nephew Jackson, who was showing off all his dance moves for me. He takes dance at the studio that I work at.

I think that in a class this would be a lot of fun to get my students involved in the concert and make it their own.  This is not a project that I would use in an entry level dance class, but instead with my dance company. I think it would be great to create an entire unit our of creating a dance concert poster.  We would be able to decide the concert themes and brainstorm what we want in the mood of the concert. Then have a photo shoot with the studentst that they may be able to be a part of the experience.  I would then take them into the lab on one to to introduce them to the program walk throug the steps necessary to create a poster.  Depending whether the school was on a block schedule or an everyday class schedule. They would have that class to work on their poster then one more day of class, then i would have the disc copy due one week later.  We would them as a class be able to look at what the other students created and vote on what we want to do for our concert poster to represent our company to our school.
